Turn Glass Measure Sheets into CAD Drawings

LaunchAI converts glass sketches and measure sheets into CAD drawings. Create panel drawings with dimensions, notches, holes and edgework for fabrication. The drawing is built from the supplied measurements, notes and specifications. Unclear details are flagged for your team to review.

For estimators, order desks and owners at residential and commercial glass shops

Monday, 7:30. Nine openings, and every one is out of plumb.

The techs left their sheets on your desk Friday. A neo-angle with top, middle and bottom widths and a level reading on each wall. A steam shower with a transom and "header?" in the margin. A vanity mirror at 60 x 36 with "cut out for plug" and no location. A GC email with a phone photo of a cracked storefront lite: "replace like for like, size is on the sticker." The sticker is in the photo. Half of it.

So you sit down with the hardware catalog and a calculator. Smallest width, minus the hinge gap, minus the strike gap, minus whatever the curb slope eats. Decide if the out-of-plumb wall gets an out-of-square panel or a wider gap. Notch for the hinges, holes for the handle, edgework, tempering. Then you type it all again into CRL Showers Online or Enclosures Online, or draw it in AutoCAD for the tempering plant, and fill their order form with the same numbers a third time.

Tempered glass can't be recut. Get one deduction wrong and the panel is scrap, the customer waits another two weeks on the remake, and the margin on that bathroom is gone. Which is why the only person who does this is the one person who never gets it wrong, and that person is buried.

What the job looks like today

  1. Read the sheet

Three widths, two plumb readings, a curb note and a hinge arrow.

  2. Do the deductions

Calculator, hardware catalog and a sticky note of your own gaps.

  3. Draw the glass

Panels, notches and holes in AutoCAD or the supplier's configurator.

  4. Order it again

Same numbers into the fabricator's form, by hand.

  5. Hope it fits

You find out at install, two weeks and one tempering run later.

Where it goes wrong

Tempered glass doesn't forgive a misread

The tech measured it right. The trouble is what the sheet assumed you'd know.

  • Out of plumb, but which way?

"1/4 out" on the back wall. Leaning in at the top or out? Over the full height or just the last foot? That's the difference between an out-of-square panel and a 1/4" gap the customer will stare at every morning.

  • Hinge left, from where?

The tech stood inside the shower to draw it. The fabricator's form is drawn from outside. Swap the view and the door swings into the toilet.

  • The curb that slopes

Curbs are built to shed water in. A 1/8" slope across the door means the bottom edge, the sweep and the gap all change. The sheet says "curb 3 1/2" and nothing else.

  • "Cut out for plug"

A mirror outlet cutout needs a location from two edges and a size. Without them you're guessing, and a guessed hole in a 60 x 36 mirror is a new mirror.

Why it's still manual

Software hasn't fixed this. Here's why.

Glass shops have good configurators and good CAD. Somebody still has to read the measure sheet into them.

  • Your CAD and quoting software

    Waits for someone to type

AutoCAD, eShowers and Smart Glazier draw a panel with notches and holes quickly, once someone has decided the sizes. The deductions, the plumb readings and the curb are still worked out by hand.

  • Generic AI and OCR models

    Confidently wrong

A generic AI model reads "36 1/4 T 36 B" as one number, drops the arrow on the plumb reading, and when the side wall has no reading it fills one in. On tempered glass, a plausible number is a remake.

  • Image-to-CAD converters

    Traces lines, not intent

Image-to-CAD converters trace the sketched lines into a DXF. A tech's plan view isn't to scale and has no thickness, deductions or hinge side in it, so you redraw it anyway.

  • Measuring apps and configurators

    Only if everyone uses them

CRL Showers Online and US Horizon Enclosures Online size standard layouts well. They still need someone to type the measure sheet in, and custom mirrors, transoms and storefront fall outside them.

How the agent does it

From sketches to CAD drawings and layouts

LaunchAI converts the sketch and its measurements into CAD geometry, applies your drawing standards and prepares the related order information. Missing dimensions and unclear notes are flagged for your team to review.

FAQ

Glass & shower doors: questions we hear

Can it enter enclosures in CRL Showers Online or US Horizon's Enclosures Online?

Yes. LaunchAI agents use web portals and desktop software through the screen, with your logins, the way your order desk does. There's no integration to set up with the supplier.

How does it know our deductions?

You give it your gaps, clearances and door limits once, per hardware line. They live in a rules table you can change any time, and every glass size on the approval screen shows which rule it used.

What if the sheet is missing a plumb reading or a hinge side?

It never guesses a glass size. It flags the gap, drafts a text to the tech, and holds that order until someone answers.

Who approves before glass is ordered?

Whoever approves today: you, the estimator or the shop manager. Nothing goes to the fabricator or the tempering plant until a person signs off.

What about mirrors, transoms and storefront?

Same agent, different rules. Mirror cutouts, transom heights and storefront lites from a measure sheet or a photo of the old stamp, with anything it can't read put in front of a person.

Does it replace my measure tech?

No. The tech still measures the opening. The agent takes the sheet from there, so the person who knows glass reviews sizes instead of working them out.
