Sketch-to-CAD Agent

Turn sketches into CAD drawings

LaunchAI converts hand-drawn sketches, field measurements and plans into CAD drawings, layouts and models. It reads the dimensions and notes, creates the drawing in your CAD software and flags missing information. Your team reviews the result before quoting or production.

How the agent does it

From a hand-drawn sketch to a CAD drawing

LaunchAI reads the measurements and notes, constructs the CAD drawing and applies your drawing standards. It also carries the relevant details into your quoting and order workflow, with unclear information flagged for review.

  1. Reads what came in

Paper, images (faxed, texted, scanned), emails and spreadsheets. Every value gets a confidence score.

  2. Applies your rules

Your defaults, tolerances and standards, from tables your team controls.

  3. Converts the sketch to CAD

Creates the drawing, layout or model from the measured sketch, then carries the relevant details into your order and quoting workflow.

  4. Asks, never guesses

A missing dimension becomes a question to the customer, not a number.

  5. Waits for you

You approve the drawing; it routes to quoting, parts and production.

What we watched a pool liner order desk do

We filmed the order desk at a vinyl liner manufacturer. Each order meant opening a quote, converting it to an order, and typing the pool's A and B lengths, the depth profile, the deep-end view, the step type, its position and tread count, and every corner, from a dealer's measurement sheet.

Then the rules engine spoke up: "Order will not route or send to AutoCAD", listing a missing wall pattern, wall thickness, floor pattern, floor thickness and PO number. Each one meant another lookup or another phone call.

The agent does the same steps on the same screens, and brings a person in only where a person adds something.

Why it's still manual

Software hasn't fixed this. Here's why.

LaunchAI converts the sketches, measure sheets and plans your team receives into CAD drawings. The agent uses the written dimensions and notes to create the geometry your quoting and production workflows need.

  • Your CAD and quoting software

    Waits for someone to type

CAD and design tools provide the drawing and modelling features. LaunchAI converts the sketch and its measurements into a drawing in those tools, including layouts, models and trade-specific details.

  • Generic AI and OCR models

    Confidently wrong

Chat models and OCR read the digits and lose the meaning: foot marks vanish, fractions merge into whole numbers, arrows and question marks disappear, and a missing dimension gets filled with something that looks right. Nothing tells you which numbers it made up.

  • Image-to-CAD converters

    Traces lines, not intent

A field sketch may not be drawn to scale. LaunchAI uses the written dimensions, callouts and geometry checks to create the CAD drawing, with unclear information flagged for review.

  • Measuring apps and configurators

    Only if everyone uses them

Measuring apps, portals and configurators work for the customers and dealers who use them. The rest still send paper, and you can't make them switch in the middle of your busy season.

For estimators, order desks, drafters and the people who run them

Every trade has the same Monday

A liner dealer sends an image of an A-B sheet: faxed, texted or scanned. A kitchen designer emails a plan with no overhangs. A contractor texts a photo of a napkin. A builder sends a spreadsheet that measures to the wall instead of the box. A salesperson leaves a voicemail that changes the step.

Somebody in your office reads every one of them, works out what was meant, and types it into the quoting portal, the CAD system and the ERP. That person is usually your most experienced one, because experience is what it takes to know that "8 6" means eight foot six.

It's skilled work, and it's still done by hand in almost every trade. It's also why quotes take days in your busiest season.

Human review

You approve the drawing, not the typing

The sketch on one side, the agent's drawing on the other, and every dimension it read in between. The agent tells you which value it's unsure of, and why.

FAQ

Questions we hear

Can LaunchAI convert hand-drawn sketches into CAD drawings?

Yes. LaunchAI converts hand-drawn sketches, field measurements and plans into CAD drawings, layouts and models. It reads the dimensions and notes, creates the drawing and flags missing or unclear information. Your team reviews the result before it is released.

Why not just paste the sketch into ChatGPT?

A general chat model will give you numbers, confidently, including ones it made up. It doesn't know your trade's units or your shop's rules, can't tell you which values it guessed, and can't enter anything in your CAD or ERP. The agent does all four and stops for approval.

Which software does it work with?

Whatever your team uses on a desktop or in a browser: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, CounterGo, Trimble FabShop, SmartBuild, CorelDRAW, ShopVOX, NetSuite and your own order portal. LaunchAI agents work through the screen, so there's no integration to build.

What if the paperwork is missing a measurement?

The agent stops and asks. It never invents a dimension. Your rules decide who gets asked (the dealer, the salesperson, the field measurer or the customer) and the agent drafts the question.

Does it replace our drafters and estimators?

LaunchAI converts sketches into CAD drawings and prepares the related quote or order information. Your drafters and estimators review the output, resolve flagged details and make the design and pricing decisions.

Where does our data go?

LaunchAI agents run on your machines with your logins. Drawings, customer sheets and pricing stay in your systems.
